Marion Jones, 16, of Thousand Oaks High, who could have been one of eight candidates for the U.S. Olympic women’s 400-meter relay team, instead chose to compete in The Athletics Congress junior (age 19 and under) championships this weekend at Ohio State. “The time wasn’t right (for the Olympics),” Jones said.
Only four of the eight candidates will be selected to run on the relay; two will be alternates.
