MISSION VIEJO : Motorcyclist Dies in Freeway Accident

A motorcyclist rear-ended on northbound Interstate 5 landed in the fast lane, where he was fatally run over by a car, the California Highway Patrol reported Wednesday.
Investigators do not know why Javier Avila, 33, of El Toro stopped his Suzuki motorbike near the Crown Valley Parkway exit shortly after 3:30 a.m. Tuesday, Officer Greg Moorehead said.
Authorities do not know exactly which lane he was in when he was struck by Terence Fletcher, 31, of Hawthorne. Fletcher was uninjured, Moorehead said.
The motorist who ran over Avila did not stop, officials said.
The victim was wearing a helmet.
Authorities are still investigating the death, and anyone with information is asked to call (714) 661-6215, Moorehead said.
