VAN NUYS : Killing of Man, 19, Called Gang-Related

A 19-year-old Pacoima man was shot to death while standing on a Van Nuys sidewalk with friends in what investigators believe was a gang-related shooting, Los Angeles police said Tuesday.
Donte Hamilton was struck at 11:30 p.m. Monday by a bullet fired from a passing car in the 9000 block of Cedros Avenue, Detective Steve Fisk said. No arrests were made.
Hamilton was not a gang member but was standing with a group of young men who associate with a local gang, Fisk said. Because the shots were fired from a moving car, investigators believe the gunman may be a member of a rival gang.
“We don’t have any gang signs or slogans yelled out, but it appears to be gang-related,” Fisk said.
