Robert O. Ingman, former Los Angeles assistant city administrative officer, has died at 75.
He died Saturday in Los Angeles after suffering a stroke, his daughter Susan L. Hopkins said Tuesday.
As the city’s administrative officer for capital improvements, Ingman managed the development, financing and construction of City Hall East, the Los Angeles Mall and the Plaza Technical Center, northeast of Union Station. He conceived the Technical Center, a giant consolidated housekeeping facility for the city that will replace 15 unsafe buildings.
A graduate of USC, Ingman taught classes at USC and Cal State Los Angeles.
In addition to his daughter, Ingman is survived by his wife, Laura, and a son, Glendon.
The family has asked that any memorial contributions be made to a scholarship fund being arranged in Ingman’s name at the Center for Scientific Investigation and Superior Education in Ensenada.
