Film-Video Fellowship Established at UCLA

A fellowship in film and video and an endowed fund for film preservation have been established at UCLA in memory of Carl David.
A film director, editor and producer, David died in 1989 at age 43 of complications of AIDS.
According to campus officials, the Carl David Memorial Trust has given $100,000 to establish an endowed fellowship in film and video whose purpose is “to promote a positive image and increase cultural and educational awareness of the gay and lesbian community through film and television.”
The trust has also given $100,000 for a fund to preserve and restore historically significant motion pictures and newsreels in the UCLA Film and Television Archive.
