No Pair o’ Dice for Job Seekers

LAS VEGAS — People all over the country figure that gaming means jobs, so they send a steady stream of resumes to the Employment Security Department. But that’s a bad bet.
Manager Charles Smith said the Las Vegas office, which gets 30 letters a week, provides job services to local residents only.
“Things are tight” in Las Vegas even though its 6.1% unemployment rate lags the national rate of 7.8%, Smith said. “With the closing of (casinos) Main Street Station and the El Rancho Hotel, they’re getting worse in Las Vegas.”
But the letters keep coming in.
