Patrick Henry’s Ruiz Leads Tournament

Michael Ruiz, a 1992 graduate of Patrick Henry High, shot a second-round 70 Thursday to take a one-shot lead in the boys’ 15-18 age division at the Las Vegas Founders’ Legacy junior golf tournament.
Ruiz, at three-under-par 141, leads Patrick Henry teammate Chris Riley by two strokes. Riley and Ruiz will attend UNLV on golf scholarships this year. Timothy Beans of Phoenix is second at 142. Jeff Padilla of Rancho Santa Fe is at 156 after shooting two 78s.
Greg Padilla of Rancho Santa Fe is second at 153 in the boys’ 13-14 age division, six strokes behind Michael Vera of Antioch.
In the Wilson Geneva National junior championships in Lake Geneva, Wis., Brian Tasto of San Diego shot a second-round 86 and is at 161, 15 strokes behind leader Jason Buha of Farmington Hills, Mich. in the boys’ 15-18 age division.
