Asbestos Trial Goes to Jury: After nearly four months of testimony, a jury in Baltimore began deliberating in the nation’s largest mass trial of asbestos personal injury claims. A total of 8,555 plaintiffs--former steel, shipyard or construction workers, or their families--are seeking damages from six companies that made, distributed or sold asbestos-containing products. The plaintiffs allege that they acquired respiratory diseases through occupational exposure to asbestos. The jury will determine whether the companies were negligent and liable for selling dangerous products.
