Blame Iba, Not Soviets, for the Upset at Munich

Mark Heisler’s review of the 1972 Olympic basketball team (July 5) left out a key point: The coach was a retired retread, Hank (the Legend) Iba.
Iba could run a boot camp, but he had absolutely no feel for the up-tempo style his players were used to. He all but messed up two prior Olympic teams and finally succeeded in 1972. Somehow, Iba continues to escape his just criticism.
