Tom Rogozinski of Hagerstown, Md., continued to cut into the overall lead of Huntington Beach’s David Warady in the Runner’s World Trans America Footrace by winning the 22nd stage, from Parachute, Colo., to Glenwood Springs, Colo.

Rogozinski won the 42.8-mile time trail in 7 hours 15 minutes 45 seconds to move within three hours of the overall lead.

After 965.75 miles, Warady’s cumulative time is 172:01:20, 2:47:28 ahead of Rogozinski.

Mater Dei’s football team defeated Edison, 24-14, to win the major division of the Rancho Santiago College summer passing tournament. Covina defeated Laguna Beach, 21-16, for the championship of the lower division.

Esperanza won the linemen tournament, winning the tug of war, obstacle course and 40-yard truck push.

Australia took a 28-21 lead over the United States after three rounds of the Pepsi Challenge Cup at Nellie Gail Tennis and Swim Club in Laguna Hills.

The tournament, pitting under-18 players from both countries, continues today at 9 a.m.

Kellee Booth of Coto de Caza won the title of the Geneva national junior golf championship Friday at Lake Geneva, Wis.

Booth, who will be a junior at Santa Margarita, shot a final-round 75 for a three-day total of 226, 11 strokes ahead of runner-up Victoria Boysen of Ft. Worth, Tex.
