Joe Amato of Old Forge, Pa., won the top-fuel title at the Summernational drag races at Englishtown, N.J., defeating Cory McClenathan of Anaheim in the final. Amato’s elapsed time was 5.015 seconds. McClenathan, who had engine problems, only managed a 5.181.
Amato is only 62 points behind series leader Kenny Bernstein, who lost in the first round to Jack Ostrander.
