Beverly Hills : New Library Director

Michael Steinfeld has taken over as the new director of the Beverly Hills Public Library.
The former director of the Public Library of Brookline, Mass., he started work last week. Steinfeld replaces Michael Cart, who stepped down last year to pursue a writing career.
Steinfeld, 50, holds a bachelor’s degree in music from Queens College and a master’s from Columbia University.
In his new position, Steinfeld will oversee a public library with a 117-member staff that includes 30 full-time employees and a $3.5-million budget. Its collection includes about 200,000 hard-bound volumes and an extensive film library.
The library is housed in a two-story building at 444 N. Rexford Drive.
Steinfeld’s annual salary is $82,000.
