Varco Acquisition: Varco International in Orange said it has completed its previously announced acquisition of the Shaffer division of Houston’s Baroid Corp. Varco, a manufacturer of oil- and gas-well equipment, purchased the 350-employee pressure control equipment maker for $39 million. Shaffer, also based in Houston, will be an independent subsidiary of Varco.
