A United Nations committee postponed a decision as to whether Yugoslav athletes will be allowed to participate in next week’s Olympics in a compromise plan, sources told the Associated Press.
The Spanish government had requested a quick decision because, without U.N. approval, it would have to uphold U.N. sanctions against Yugoslavia and bar the entry of Yugoslav athletes.
The International Olympic Committee has proposed allowing Yugoslavs to compete as individuals under the Olympic flag and anthem.
