AQMD Rules

Regarding the July 8 article on the South Coast Air Quality Management District’s strict guidelines, penalties and complaints, I must agree they have gone too far in the effort toward clean air. The company I work for has been pushed to the point of having a policy where employees who do not car-pool sign a release authorizing a payroll deduction as a penalty even if they park on a public street.
AQMD officials are largely at fault since they make regulations and impose fines for violations but leave companies on their own to come up with a plan to comply. In my opinion this is harassment and a poor incentive for employers and employees. Companies are going out of business in California from the complicated local and state regulations let alone the poor economy and employees being laid off. The AQMD may soon be at a stalemate. How will they regulate the unemployed?
