Mitchell Cannold, who formerly worked for Walt Disney Co. and Henson Co., has been named president of the new technologies division at Culver City-based Sony Pictures Entertainment.
Cannold will be responsible for introducing technological advances to Sony’s entertainment operations. He will consult with senior executives from Sony divisions as wide-reaching as Loews Theatres, Sony Music, Columbia and TriStar pictures and Sony Electronic Publishing.
Cannold, who will be based in New York, began his career as an NBC producer. He then went on to work in documentary and feature film production and cable TV.
More recently, he served as senior vice president at Vestron Inc., and as chief operating officer of the Henson Co.
