POMONA : 2 Killed in Wrong-Way Crash on Expressway

Two Escondido men died early Wednesday morning after they drove a van the wrong way on the northbound Corona Expressway and collided with two cars traveling in the opposite direction.
The accident shut down the expressway lanes for about five hours, until about 8 a.m. Wednesday.
The dead men were identified by the Los Angeles County coroner’s office as Jose Cardiel, 34, and Arnolfo Ledesma, 29. According to Pomona police, Cardiel and Ledesma drove a 1977 Dodge van south into the northbound lanes of the expressway and collided with two other cars at 2:40 a.m. beneath the Pomona Freeway overpass. One of the other drivers suffered a broken wrist and the second had minor injuries.
