Three cheers for John Godfrey and his special circus review. Finally, a writer who really saw a circus.

I am not an animal rights campaigner, at least not actively. I believe in animals for education, preservation and conservation. But animals for amusement and ridicule, no thank you!

I feel I’ve been blessed with a good amount of common sense--an animal riding a bicycle or jumping through a hoop is outrageous and very sad.

John Godfrey was able to see what so many of us have seen before. An animal has a great deal of dignity and most certainly intelligence.
