IRVINE THUNDER: An Irvine advisory committee has come up with a package to encourage understanding among the city’s increasingly divergent cultures: a weekly fall film festival. First up: “Distant Thunder,” by Satyajit Ray, on Sept. 30, about the 1943 famine in India.
