Chuck Berry: Hail! Hail! Rock ‘n’ Roll! (Disney Channel Sunday at 9 p.m.) Taylor Hackford’s 1987 movie is one of the saltiest, most stirring rock documentaries ever: a terrific show and a real labor of love, a fascinating character study that celebrates rock and Berry’s role in it.
Experience Preferred ... but Not Essential (Bravo Friday at 5 p.m., again at 10 p.m.) A 1982 charmer about a 17-year-old (Elizabeth Edmonds) from the North of England who takes her first job as a waitress in a remote hotel on the Welsh seacoast.
Jean de Florette (KCET Saturday at 9 p.m.). whose story is completed in “Manon of the Spring,” is the first part of Claude Berri’s superb 1986 adaptation of the two-part Marcel Pagnol novel about greed, innocence and revenge. The late Yves Montand attains the pinnacle of his career as a mean-spirited peasant out to gull his new neighbor, the open-hearted Gerard Depardieu. With Daniel Auteuil as Montand’s hapless nephew.
