SEAL BEACH — A windblown, two-alarm fire destroyed one home and damaged two others Sunday in the College Park section of the city.
The fire, which began in the wiring of a bathroom vent fan in the house at 4196 Ironwood Ave., was reported at 12:28 p.m., according to the Orange County Fire Department.
When firefighters arrived, the entire roof and second story of the house were ablaze, said department spokesman Dennis Shell. The fire destroyed the house, causing $340,000 damage, Shell said.
Embers carried by a strong breeze ignited the wood shake roofs of a house next door and another four doors away, causing a total of $8,500 in damage, Shell said.
A 52-year-old woman resident of one of the neighboring houses suffered chest pains during the fire and was admitted to Los Alamitos Medical Center.
