Irvine Upsets Newport Harbor in Volleyball

IRVINE — Unranked Irvine toppled Newport Harbor, the third-ranked team in Orange County, 3-15, 16-14, 7-15, 15-6, 15-13, in a Sea View League girls’ volleyball match Tuesday at Irvine High School.

Johanna Pursley had 21 kills and Kristi McNitt had 18 to lead the Vaqueros (9-8, 7-6 in league). Irvine setter Meghan Biesty had 65 assists.

Melissa Schutz had 20 kills, Misty May 18, and Dani Foley 15 for Newport Harbor (11-4, 10-3).
