Cyclamate Source

In regard to the letter from Madine Wolf (Oct. 8), I have some information for her.

I don’t know anything about the drink from the Berkeley Co-op. However, cyclamate sweetener, both liquid and powdered, can be purchased in Canada. I bought some in a drugstore in Montreal several years ago.

Whenever I have friends traveling to Vancouver or eastern Canada, I impose on them to bring back a supply for me. I much prefer it to either saccharine or aspartame. (Incidentally, in Canada it is saccharine that is banned from foodstuffs.) Perhaps Wolf could find a drink from Sweden or Norway there too.

The cyclamates or the drink may also be available in Mexico. Nearly everything else is, and it’s a lot closer than Canada.
