Use of Handguns in Self-Defense

The “revelation” that the Los Angeles Police Commission supports a double standard for the issuance of concealed firearm permits comes as no surprise to the many thousands of concerned, law-abiding citizens of Los Angeles who, through the years, have had their applications summarily denied. Now, we find out that a member of the commission, Michael Yamaki, feels his need for personal protection is greater than that of the people he serves (Nov. 4).
Since crime is still rampant in Los Angeles and there are still many people who are worried about their safety because they live and/or work in the city, perhaps Yamaki can offer advice on how they, too, can qualify for a CCW permit. Or, does he suggest they rely on 911 instead?
