Fremont 20, Canoga Park 12--Junior quarterback William Yates threw touchdown passes of 89 and 76 yards and rushed for another score as Fremont stunned host Canoga Park (6-5).
The Hunters, trailing, 20-0, in the third quarter, rallied but could not overcome upset-minded Fremont (4-7).
Canoga Park’s Rashaud Vaughn rushed for 46 yards in eight carries and scored on runs of seven and four yards in the second half.
Yates hit tight end Andre Johnson with a 76-yard scoring pass two plays after offensive lineman Ray Ramirez recovered a fumble at the Fremont 27. Yates’ one-yard run gave Fremont a 14-0 halftime lead.
