SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO : Pickup Runs Off Road, Kills Driver

A 51-year-old man from Menifee in Riverside County died Wednesday morning when his pickup truck veered off Ortega Highway near Cristianitos Road and overturned, the California Highway Patrol reported.
The victim was identified as Ronnie Johnson.
Johnson, driving west about 5:45 a.m. Wednesday, veered off the highway, hit some trees and was ejected, police said. The truck rolled over on Johnson, crushing him to death.
CHP Officer Bruce Lian said a preliminary investigation could find no reason why Johnson drove off the road.
“No speeding was indicated,” Lian said. “There were no witnesses, so we just don’t know what happened. We’re inspecting the truck for mechanical defects, but that will take about a week.”
