Malibu City Plan and Mobile Home Parks
As concerned citizens of Malibu, we commend you for the well-written and accurate article about our City Plan (Times, Nov. 15). However, in the comments about affordable housing and the discussion that took place at the General Plan Task Force meeting, you neglected to mention the existing mobile home parks, which are generally considered to be the existing affordable purchase housing available in Malibu.
This fact is documented in the housing element of the General Plan draft of goals, objectives and policies, which proposes permanent zoning of the existing parks, Paradise Cove Mobilehome Park and Point Dume Mobilehome Park.
We feel that by permanently zoning the existing mobile home parks in Malibu, the “formidable task” referred to in the article would be to a large extent accomplished.
