CANON FIRE

I was fascinated to read in Louis Begley’s review of “The Orient Express” (Oct. 18) that the narrator of the book had been an importer of, among other things, Czech canons. I assume that they were made at the Skoda Philosophy Works, but I had always thought them to be for internal inspiration only and not for export.
