ORANGE — Western National Group, Orange County’s largest apartment developer and manager, said it has acquired the entire apartment portfolio of Kemper Residential Management for an undisclosed sum.
Western’s first nationwide acquisition adds 17 apartment complexes with 3,419 units to its holdings, bringing its total apartments under management to 27,000, the company said. The apartments are located in nine states: California, Florida, Georgia, Missouri, Mississippi, Oregon, South Carolina, Texas and Washington.
The employees at Kemper, a property management firm based in Lafayette, in Northern California, will join Western National, the company said.
“This expands our portfolio under management by more than 12%,” said Don Vodra, managing partner of Western National Group. “We expect it to increase our exposure to similar medium- and large-scale opportunities with institutional investors, asset managers and property managers.”
