Cypress, So.
Basketball / Forward
Basketball is something Johnson does, albeit very well, while waiting for softball season. Johnson, a first baseman, already has signed to attend Oklahoma on a softball scholarship next fall. Meanwhile, she is passing the time as one of the better basketball players around. She helped Cypress to its first State tournament berth last week with her contributions in two playoff victories. She scored 38 points in two games, including making 15 of 21 shots from the field. She scored a season-high 24 points in the victory over Ventura on Saturday.
Other notables:
* Kristin Brun, Golden West guard, had 27 rebounds, scored 19 points and had 13 assists in two playoff victories.
* Petra Murdoch, Orange Coast, made the game-winning basket in the closing seconds as the Pirates beat Chaffey, 66-65, in the playoffs.
