Volleyball / Middle blocker
Perry, a middle blocker, is part of what Orange Coast Coach Chuck Cutenese calls the strongest part of the team. Perry was a regional most valuable player at Amarillo (Tex.) High School. He came to OCC in 1992 but sat out. Last year, he earned All-Orange Empire Conference honors and was selected as OCC’s most improved player. He had 26 kills, five blocks and five aces as Orange Coast won two conference matches. He had 14 kills Friday as OCC beat defending State champion Irvine Valley, 15-12, 15-6, 15-9.
Other notables:
* Jason Minici, Rancho Santiago, had a home run and three doubles as the Dons beat Orange Coast, 15-3, in the Orange Empire Conference opener Saturday.
* Augie Ojeda, Cypress, went seven for 17, scored nine runs and drove in five as the Chargers won four games.
