ALHAMBRA: Two Alhambra brothers were arrested at 4:30 a.m. Sunday in connection with the killing of a 24-year-old man near Los Angeles Harbor. Jose Lemos, 25, and Armando Lemos, 27, were taken into custody after L.A. police officers followed their truck.
INDUSTRY: A big rig ran over a fire hydrant last week and sent a 150-foot geyser of water onto the roof of the Baby Toy Town distribution center at 16800 Gale Ave., causing $1.5 million in damage.
EL MONTE: Ronald Jesse Flores, 21, of West Covina, was shot to death after a dispute behind an El Monte home on Peck Road last Thursday morning. No arrests have been made.
EL MONTE: An El Monte police officer was arrested on suspicion of possessing cocaine and being under the influence of narcotics last week shortly after a raid on a home in the 16000 block of Fairgrove Avenue netted a half-pound of cocaine. Allen Hagar, 32, an eight-year veteran of the El Monte police department, has been suspended with pay from his job pending an internal investigation.
MONTEREY PARK: A 38-year-old man wanted in the killing of his apartment manager surrendered to police last week and pleaded innocent to first-degree murder. Ceasar Valdovinos is accused of shooting 40-year-old Sally Mandeville in the head after an argument stemming from a scratch that her twin sister put on his truck.
PASADENA: A 10-year-old Pasadena boy died last Thursday and his mother, father and 12-year-old sister were hospitalized after being overcome by carbon monoxide fumes from a natural gas heater with a clogged vent. Lawrence Joseph Marshall Jr. died at Huntington Memorial Hospital. The other family members were treated and released the same day from two hospitals.
POMONA: An unidentified man was discovered shot to death in a black Mercedes-Benz at 6:45 a.m. Friday at 930 Hillcrest Dr. No arrests have been made.
POMONA: Human bones were found by a man walking his dog in a remote area of the Cal Poly Pomona campus at 11 a.m. Monday. Foul play is not suspected, sheriff’s deputies said.
SAN MARINO: A man brandishing a revolver forced the driver of a Mercedes-Benz to pull over in the 2500 block of Sycamore Drive on Saturday night, then stole the car, police said. The car was equipped with a tracking system but had traveled outside the tracking area by the time the crime was reported, police said.
TEMPLE CITY: Antonio Lopez Bautista, 19, of San Gabriel, was knocked off his bicycle and killed Monday in a hit-and-run accident on Rosemead Boulevard about 3:30 a.m. He was not wearing a helmet.
