Freeway Monorail Would Risk Lives
I was shocked to see the letter from County Supervisor Mike Antonovich (Feb. 27), in which he is still promoting the idea of a monorail on the Ventura Freeway.
Perhaps he missed the earthquake we had on Jan. 17. I couldn’t imagine the tragedy which would occur if an earthquake struck during a rush hour if a monorail were in place. Can you imagine several trains traveling at 60 or 70 m.p.h. with hundreds of passengers on board being derailed and flying into hundreds of cars?
Let’s not trade lives for dollars.
