In the City Division 3-A boys’ championship game:
Wilmington Banning 56, Roosevelt 55--Banning (19-11) rallied from as many as 12 points down before putting on an 11-0 run to send the game into overtime at the Sports Arena.
In overtime, Brian Perkins rebound and basket gave Banning a 55-53 lead. Eric Jett’s free throw extended it to 56-53, before Roosevelt’s Paul Burgueno converted two free-throws to cut the lead to one with 38 seconds left. Mario Hernandez’ three-point attempt was long for Roosevelt as Banning held on.
In the City Section Division 3-A girls’ championship game:
Wilmington Banning 47, Gardena 32--Jenille Ramos scored 14 of her game-high 20 points in the second half to lead Banning (16-11) at the Sports Arena.
In the Southern Section IV-AA boys’ championship game:
La Puente Bassett 77, St. Paul 73--Robert Henson scored a game-high 29 points before fouling out with 3:21 to play at the Bren Center.
