SEAL BEACH : City to Buy 3 Trucks for Inspectors, Parks

The City Council last week authorized the purchase of three new trucks for the city’s parks and code-inspection departments. The trucks will cost about $20,000 each and were selected at the end of a bidding process.
The city will buy two mini-trucks from Huntington Beach Dodge that will be used by two building inspectors.
Currently, the inspectors use their own vehicles while on the job and receive a monthly allowance from the city. Sometimes, the allowances total $400 a month. Officials concluded that it would be more cost-effective if the inspectors used city vehicles, City Manager Jerry L. Bankston said.
The city also will buy a one-ton stake-bed truck from Tuttle-Click Ford in Irvine. The truck will be used by park maintenance personnel and will replace a 20-year-old vehicle, Bankston said.
The city is now seeking bids to buy a 4-by-4 extra-cab truck for the Lifeguard Department.
