COMMUNITY COLLEGE ROUNDUP : Crabtree Strikes Out 13 to End Rancho Santiago Winning Streak

Rob Crabtree pitched a four-hitter with 13 strikeouts as host Cypress beat Rancho Santiago, 5-2, in an Orange Empire Conference baseball game Tuesday.
The loss ends Rancho Santiago’s 12-game winning streak.
Crabtree, a sophomore right-hander from Savanna High, struck out the side in the first and ninth innings. He retired the first 13 batters in improving his record to 2-2.
Jason Hodges hit a two-run home run in the first inning for Cypress (15-4, 3-1 in conference). He also had an RBI single in the fifth to put Cypress ahead, 5-2.
Rancho Santiago (15-3, 3-1) and Cypress are a game behind Riverside.
In other conference games:
Saddleback 5, Golden West 2--Jeff Biron (2-1) allowed six hits in 6 1/3 innings to get the victory for host Saddleback (8-5-1, 3-2). Dennis Crine pitched the final 2 2/3 innings, allowing one hit, for his first save.
David Biddinger hit his second home for Saddleback. Ken Fann hit a home run for Golden West (7-8, 1-3).
Riverside 10, Orange Coast 1--Host Riverside (14-2, 4-0) moves into first place with the victory. The Tigers scored seven runs in the second inning to take a 7-1 lead.
In Orange Empire Conference men’s tennis:
Saddleback 9, Cypress 0--Nobody lost a set for host Saddleback (9-0, 5-0).
Orange Coast 8, Golden West 1--Jason Weaver won at No. 2 singles for OCC (3-2, 2-2) and teamed with Chris Stearns to win at No. 2 doubles.
In Orange Empire Conference women’s tennis:
Saddleback 8, Cypress 1--Ann-Marie Roseen from Saddleback defeated Jeni Cull, 6-0, 6-0, for Saddleback (3-3).
