DAVIE, Fla. — After seven seasons with the Rams, strong safety Michael Stewart has signed a three-year, $2.8-million contract with the Miami Dolphins.
Also on Wednesday, Miami removed the transitional free agent designation from safety Louis Oliver, meaning he is eligible to sign with any team.
Stewart will earn $2.2 million in salary plus a $600,000 signing bonus. He had started 76 of his 103 games with the Rams, who drafted him from Fresno State in 1987. Stewart started 14 games in 1993, when he earned $575,000.
He will be paid $625,00 next season.
