PREP ROUNDUP : No. 4-Ranked Dana Hills Defeats Corona del Mar

Brandon Fallon’s 6-2 victory over Tyler Stonebreaker proved to be the deciding set as Dana Hills, ranked fourth in Division I, defeated sixth-ranked Corona del Mar, 11-10, in a nonleague boys’ tennis match Thursday at Dana Hills High.
Dana Hills improved its record to 5-0 and Corona del Mar fell to 3-1.
In other nonleague boys’ tennis:
Brea-Olinda 10 2/3, Walnut 10 1/3--After losing his first singles match, 2-6, Mark Fisher won his next two, 6-2, 6-2, for visiting Brea (3-3). At No. 3 doubles, Albert Chen and Mark Austin lost their first match, 4-6, but won the next two, 6-4, 6-3.
Estancia 13, El Modena 8--Rob Horansky swept his three singles matches, 6-0, 6-0, 6-0, to lead Estancia (3-1). No. 2 singles player Mike Leonard won his matches, 6-0, 6-1, 6-1.
Foothill 17, Capistrano Valley 4--Foothill went 9-0 in singles, led by No. 1 Ryan Thompson, who was playing in his first singles match of the year for the Knights (5-1).
Katella 17 1/3, Los Amigos 3 2/3--Al Ho swept his singles matches, 6-0, 6-3, 6-1, for visiting Katella (2-2). Dean Blade and Justin Banderas won their double matches, 6-3, 6-2, 6-0.
Orange 13 1/3, Troy 6 2/3--No. 1 singles player Josh O’Neill swept his matches, 6-1, 6-1, 6-2, for Orange (4-1).
Villa Park 17 1/3, Fullerton 3 2/3--Junior Ryan Hollis and Freshman B.K. Chang swept their opponents, 6-0, 6-0, 6-0, to lead Villa Park (4-1). The doubles team of Bryan Kim and Eric Wu also swept, 6-4, 6-4, 6-2.
In Sunset League boys’ tennis:
Ocean View 16, Huntington Beach 5--Jakub Pietrowski and Paul Choy swept their singles matches, 6-0, 6-0, 6-0, for visiting Ocean View (3-0, 2-0).
In Sea View League golf:
Irvine 214, Tustin 218--Andy Moore shot a one-over 37 to lead Irvine (1-2, 1-1) at Rancho San Joaquin.
In nonleague golf:
Costa Mesa 210, Garden Grove 246--Andrew Zanzig and Gregg Walters both shot par 37 at Los Lagos. Costa Mesa is 3-1.
Edison 216, Newport Harbor 236--David Searle shot a one-over 37 for Edison (3-1) at Big Canyon Country Club. Newport Harbor is 2-2.
Santa Margarita 197, Corona del Mar 209--Steve Wagner shot one-over 37 to lead Santa Margarita (1-0 in league) at Dove Canyon. Scott Bemis and Craig Welker shot 40 for the Sea Kings (3-2, 1-1).
Western 435, Long Beach Poly 449--Tiger Woods shot a par 72 to lead Western (3-1) at Los Coyotes Golf Course.
In boys’ nonleague swimming:
Brea-Olinda 110, Fullerton 57--Jeff Ritter won the 200 freestyle in 1:54.52 and the 100 free in 51.9 and Casey King won the 50 free in 23.86 and the 100 butterfly in 1:01.42 for Brea-Olinda (3-0). Billy Brown, a transfer from Brea-Olinda, won the 200 individual medley in 2:15.20 and the 100 breaststroke in 1:07.16 for Fullerton (0-2).
Mater Dei 111, Servite 59--Mike Ciesek won the 200 and 500 freestyle races and Don Turk and Tom Keating also won a pair of events for Mater Dei (2-0).
In nonleague girls’ swimming:
Rosary 90, Mater Dei 80--Aballa Younis won the 200 freestyle in 1:59.27 and the 100 freestyle in 55.8 and Carrie Fisher won the 500 freestyle in 5:33.9 and the 100 breaststroke in 1:15.5 for Rosary which defeated Mater Dei in swimming for the first time in school history.
In nonleague boys’ volleyball:
Bolsa Grande 3, Century 0--Terry Tran had 21 assists for Bolsa Grande (4-2) in the 15-4, 15-7, 15-6 victory. Brian Dang and Mike Porter each had 10 kills. Century is 1-5.
Costa Mesa 3, Westminster 0--Lance Merrifield had 18 kills for Costa Mesa, which defeated Westminster, 15-12, 15-12, 15-10.
El Dorado 3, Cerritos 2--Sean Morrison had 11 kills and setter Drew Wardell had 51 assists and four aces for host El Dorado (3-1), which won, 15-12, 15-5, 12-15, 9-15, 15-8.
Foothill 3, Garden Grove 1--Marc Cruse had 19 kills for Foothill (1-1), which defeated Garden Grove (12-15), 15-3, 15-8, 15-8. Matt Nichols added 12 and Craig LeSueur had 34 assists for the Knights. Garden Grove is 0-2.
Laguna Beach 3, El Toro 1--Dan Styles had 20 kills for Laguna Beach (1-0). Beau Bianchi and Szalird Kovacs each added 14. Kovacs also had nine blocks. Kurt Nelson had 49 assists. El Toro is (3-1).
Valencia 3, Laguna Hills 0--Joe Reynoza had 15 kills and eight blocks for Valencia (3-1). Teammate Jason Miele added 12 kills.
