VENTURA : City to Dedicate 6 Benches at Park

The city of Ventura will formally dedicate six park benches--a gift from a Baja California civic organization--at Hobert Park on Sunday.
A delegation from the Tijuana-La Mesa chapter of Rotary International will attend the 12:30 p.m. dedication at the park at Telegraph Road and Petit Avenue. They will be joined by Ventura Councilman Jack Tingstrom, City Manager John Baker and members of the Ventura East chapter of Rotary International.
City staff have already installed the ornate aluminum benches on concrete pads at the park.
Gerald Dulsa, a past president of Rotary’s East Ventura chapter, said the gift by the Tijuana civic group continues a close relationship the two chapters have formed over the years.
Members of Rotary’s East Ventura chapter have donated farm equipment, medicine and medical equipment to residents of the Tijuana area, most recently after last year’s devastating floods.
“It is a very touching gift,” Dulsa said of the benches. “It’s a way for their members to thank the people in Ventura who have been willing to help others.”
