BASKETBALL PLAYOFFS : Boys’ Playoffs

Verbum Dei 102, Holtville 45--Guard Andre Miller scored 17 of his game-high 25 points in the first half to lead the Eagles in a Southern Regional Division IV quarterfinal game Tuesday at Compton College.

Miller, who also had 13 rebounds and six steals, scored eight points in the third quarter in which Verbum Dei outscored Holtville, 22-4.

Eagle point guard Jamaal Cobbs added 17 points.

Holtville was led by Jason Garewal’s eight-point effort.
