Machine Tool Orders Off Sharply: Orders tumbled 11.6% in January from a year ago and fell 5.2% from the previous month to $361.68 million, the Japan Machine Tool Builders Assn said. Orders to machine tool builders are considered a leading economic indicator because machine tools are used to make equipment for manufacturers.
