The second full week of softball play begins today at Alicia Park in Mission Viejo with the Laguna Hills tournament.
Some of the county’s best teams are taking part, including Marina, the defending Sunset League champion; Woodbridge and Irvine, which shared the Sea View League title; Empire League champion Foothill, and Pacific Coast League champion Laguna Hills, which won the Division III title in 1993.
Eight first-round games will be played tonight, including the most attractive matchup, El Toro-Fountain Valley, at 5 p.m.
The tournament continues nightly, with the winners playing at 7 p.m. throughout the four-day tournament. The championship will be decided at 7:15 p.m. Thursday.
