Three D Departments Inc.: The Costa Mesa owner and operator of retail bed and bath specialty stores reported that second-quarter profits dropped from $376,063, or 13 cents a share in the year-earlier period, to $121,645, or 4 cents a share. Revenue for the quarter, ended Jan. 29, declined from $13.2 million to $12.5 million. For the first half of the fiscal year, profits totaled $193,597, or 7 cents a share, which included a gain of $96,223 from an accounting change. That compares with $181,314, or 6 cents a share, for the same period a year ago. Revenue was down to $22.7 million from $23.8 million. The company attributed the sales decline to the closing of six stores and poor weather conditions in Connecticut, where some of its stores are located.
