Court Upholds Sex Offender Registration

OLYMPIA, Wash. — The state’s 4-year-old law requiring sex offenders to register with the police is constitutional, the state Supreme Court ruled Thursday.
In its decision, the court said the statute did not violate the ban against applying laws after the fact, nor did it deny sex offenders due process or equal protection.
It rejected the argument that the requirement puts a “badge of infamy” on offenders.
