COLLEGE ROUNDUP : Burton Winds Up 33rd in NCAA Three-Meter Springboard Diving

Dawn Burton of Cal State Northridge finished 33rd out of 35 entrants in the women’s three-meter springboard event Friday in the NCAA Division I swimming and diving championships at the Indiana University Natatorium in Indianapolis.
Burton, a freshman, totaled 384.15 points in the preliminaries, but only the top eight competitors advanced to the final, which was won by Robin Carter of Texas.
Carter had 522.10 points in the finals after finishing fifth in the preliminaries.
BASEBALL
Azusa Pacific 11, The Master’s 0--Three Mustang pitchers issued 11 walks and hit six batters to make it easy for the Cougars. Matt Davis (4-1) took the loss for Master’s (6-15, 3-6 in the Golden State Athletic Conference).
MEN’S VOLLEYBALL
Pierce d. Orange Coast, 15-6, 14-16, 15-7, 15-7--Gabe Higa had 28 kills and Dan Nash had 79 assists in a Western State Conference match for Pierce (9-0, 8-0).
SOFTBALL
Southern California College 7-5, Cal Lutheran 1-4--Xochitl Castillo had a pinch-hit, three-run double in a four-run seventh in the second game, but the Regals were swept in a nonconference doubleheader.
