DOWNTOWN : Essay, Poster Contest Is Open to Students

Students in kindergarten through 12th grade can win scholarships for creating a poster or writing an essay on the theme “Celebrating the Family: Foundation of Our Future.”
The deadline for the poster and essay contest is April 8. Essays should be a maximum of 500 words and posters should be at least 11 by 14 inches and no larger than 24 by 35 inches.
Scholarships of $50 to $300 will be awarded to first- through third-place winners in four grade divisions. Winners will be honored at a May 11 reception at the Los Angeles Unified School District Board of Education.
The contest is sponsored by the school district’s Asian Pacific American Education Commission and the Los Angeles Asian Pacific American Heritage Month Committee.
