SANTA ANA — Two men were shot--one fatally--after a frantic, three-block car chase Saturday night that ended with two car crashes and gunfire.
The two men, whose names were not released late last night, were taken to Western Medical Center-Santa Ana, where one died from gunshot wounds to the back, police said. Also injured were two people in a car caught in the middle of the car chase that began at the intersection of Orange Avenue and Grant Street.
That vehicle was involved in a collision at the intersection of Orange Avenue and Bishop Street.
Santa Ana police said the series of events started after 7:40 p.m. with a dispute between the passengers of two cars which were playing a deadly game of cat and mouse. At least 12 shots were fired, some while the two cars were still racing along city streets, police said.
