TUJUNGA — The body of a 40-year-old man who apparently tripped and fell 12 feet from a back yard into a concrete flood control channel was found early Saturday morning in Tujunga, authorities said.
Firefighters recovered the body at the bottom of Haines Canyon channel in the 10000 block of Marcus Avenue after a friend of the man’s called police, said Bob Collis of the Los Angeles Fire Department.
“He was in the back yard, tripped and hit his head. He drowned in about 6 inches of water,” said Sgt. Dan Honey of the Los Angeles Police Department’s Foothill Division.
The man apparently tripped over a low fence that separates the channel from houses, authorities said.
The victim’s name was not released.
