Quilting, which nearly disappeared from American homes after World War II, is flourishing again and what better place to celebrate the renaissance than the 1994 Lancaster County Quilt Festival from April 1-10 in Lancaster, Penn. Attention will center on quilts made by the Amish, who established their first permanent settlement in America in Lancaster, and who kept on quilting when others didn’t. The People’s Place Quilt Museum will display examples of Amish quilt patterns such as those pictured from left, Center Diamond; Sunshine and Shadow, and Bars (1890-1900).
