A Newbury Park couple were injured late Saturday when the driver of a suspected stolen vehicle ran a stop sign, collided with their car at a Newbury Park intersection, then fled, sheriff’s deputies said.
Manuel Godinez, 24, and his wife, Alma Morales, 26, were treated at the emergency room of Los Robles Regional Medical Center in Thousand Oaks, then released, deputies said. Another passenger, Edgar Garcia, 29, of Inglewood, was not injured.
The hit-and-run driver, thought to be driving a vehicle stolen earlier in the evening from the Oxnard area, smashed into Godinez’s car at Avenue de la Playa and Calle Turquesa at 11:30 p.m., deputies said.
The driver remained at large Sunday. Sheriff’s deputies said their investigation is continuing.
